Is Happieness Pointless?
Kohelet says, that after you party all you are left with is a few memories. It brings you joy for a small amount of time, and then it is over. I agree with this statement. I also believe there are other ways we can receive happiness and pleasure. I tend to feel good and happy when I do something nice for someone else. Even if it is something small, like helping someone with a homework problem, it brings me joy to know I helped someone who needed it. Just like partying, these moments of happiness and pleasure don't last forever, but does that mean they are pointless? If we make sure to constantly be helping other people, and maybe spending some time partying, we can maintain a constant feeling of happiness. Although Kohelet might say this is pointless, because it does not effect the world, I disagree. By staying happy and helping others, you are creating a more positive environment for others, and hopefully helping them become filled with constant happiness and joy.
