This week we talked about how Shlomo views Hevel from different aspects. He talks about how parties don't last and and what happens after. He starts to worry about all the work he put into his toil and what will happen to it after. He is afraid of who will get everything after him and what they will do to and with it. He concludes that since he doesn't know everything about this it is all pointless. He thinks that nothing lasts and we have no lasting impression on the world. I do not agree with this. Shlomo knows the history of Moshe and how that still effects us and he still believes that nothing is left behind? Doesn't this leave a lasting impression? How can he think nothing lasts?

  1. Shlomo certainly should not be concerned about how his life will have a lasting impression on people. People, not even just Jews, study the life of Shlomo and his work, Sefer Kohelet, every single day. Not to mention he was the one who built the first Beit Hamikdash. I'd have to say that is a pretty amazing legacy.
